Combined Views
Combined views are the core feature of TotalKPI. They let you overlay two or more data sources onto a single chart to visually compare how different metrics change over time.
Creating a Combined View
- Make sure you have at least two data sources on the current page.
- Click the Combine button in the top bar.
- Enter a name for the view (e.g. "Revenue vs Marketing Spend"), or leave it blank to auto-generate a name from the selected sources.
- Check the boxes next to the data sources you want to include.
- Click Create.
The combined view appears in the Combined Views section at the top of your page.
How Normalization Works
Because different metrics have different scales (e.g. revenue in thousands of dollars vs. website visitors in tens of thousands), TotalKPI normalizes all values to a 0–100% scale. Each source's minimum becomes 0% and its maximum becomes 100%.
This makes it easy to see whether two metrics trend in the same direction - even when their raw values are on completely different scales.
Reading Combined View Charts
- Each data source is drawn as a separate colored line on the chart.
- A legend below the chart shows which color corresponds to which source.
- Hover over the chart to see a tooltip with the date and all source values at that point.
- The Y-axis labels show 0% to 100% (normalized scale).
Editing a Combined View
Click the settings icon on a combined view card to open the edit modal. You can:
- Rename the view.
- Add or remove data sources from the overlay.
You need at least two sources selected to save changes.
Removing a Combined View
Click the X icon on a combined view card to remove it. This does not delete the underlying data sources - only the combined view itself.
If you delete a data source that's part of a combined view, the view is automatically updated or removed if fewer than two sources remain.
